30, 2008 The agenda . included an advisory update by City staff, action on new
proposed resolutions, planning for a stream cleanup event, and forming
committees tentatively on traffic issues (Fleet and Argyle Sts., RM
parking), starting a community garden, environment matters (stream
ecology, storm water mgmt., sustainability), and community events (Nat.
Night Out, neighborhood yard sale, etc.). January
27, 2008 A new slate of officers was duly nominated and elected at this meeting (Click here for more info.) Reports were given on the status of refuse pick-up (returning to once-a-week pick-up similar to Pilot Study service), zoning ordinance review/update and the City storm water fund. A resolution declaring the Pilot Study type service (including once-a-week-pick-up) as superior passed unanimously. A representative of the West End Civic Assoc. also spoke about issues with a proposed new District Courthouse and its site. A motion supporting the Giant Food site passed by majority vote. A general discussion of current issues and possible future association initiatives included the status of the Fleet St. Extension, information on the demolition of the old Richard Mont. HS, possible neighborhood action on curtailing unsolicited newspaper delivery, and whether a neighborhood garden at the southern end of Cabin John Parkway was viable. October
9, 2007 Hungerford, East Rockville and Twinbrook Civic Assns. sponsored a televised candidate forum in the City election. The forum was broadcast live and replayed on TRC 11 cable channel. All eleven council and three mayoral candidates participated in a question and answer style forum. This was held in the Social Hall of the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater. January
24, 2007 Hungerford and Lynfield Civic Assns. and Wooton Oaks and Waddington Park Condo Assns. are having a joint Town Hall style meeting with City government officials. The agenda includes Refuse Pilot Project, Zoning Ordinance Update, and nearby development projects (Town Center and Tower Oaks).
