New Mark Recieves Two Enviornmental Awards
The Rockville Mayor and Council in combination with the Rockville Environment Commission awarded New Mark Commons an Environmental Excellence Award on February 23, 2009 for outstanding leadership in environmental practices in recognition of our urban tree management program. We also received notification that New Mark Commons has been approved for a GREEN Award from the Maryland Urban and Community Forest Committee (MUCFC). The GREEN Award is the highest award given by the Maryland PLANT Community (People Loving and Nurturing Trees) for the planting, care and management of trees. Stewart McKenzie, who led our volunteer tree planting effort last fall, along with Joe Jordan, president of our Board of Directors determined New Mark should apply for the GREEN AWARD.
