SWIMMING POOL RULES 

SCHEDULE

1.      The pool will be open from Saturday, May 27th through Monday, September 4th.

2.    The pool will be open seven days a week, including holidays.         

3.         Hours of operation are as follows:

·         On weekdays while school is in session (May 30th – June13th) the pool will be open from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M.

 ·         The pool will be open from 11 A.M. until 9 P.M. on Monday – Friday.  The pool will be open from 10 A.M. until 8 P.M. on Saturdays and 10 A.M. – 9 P.M. on Sundays.

 4.         No person shall use the pool unless it is officially open and the guards are on duty.

 ADMISSION

1.      All members and guests are required to register at the pool entrance. If you enter via the side gate you must still register at the front desk.

 2.      Identification of members will be to the satisfaction of the pool staff in such manner as shall be prescribed by the Pool Manager.

3.      Guests of members shall be admitted, if accompanied by the member, subject to the following fees: $2.00 per guest on weekends and holidays; $1.00 per guest at all other times.  Guests under the age of 2 will be admitted for no charge.

4.      Babysitters and nannies, accompanying children, are allowed in the pool area free of charge provided they have written permission from the child's parents in hand or on file with the pool office.

5.      Guests not attired in bathing suits may be admitted without charge but must be registered by the sponsoring member.

6.      All guests are subject to the same behavior standards and regulations required of members.

7.      On certain Saturdays in the months of June and July, the pool will open approximately one hour after the conclusion of swim meets (Approximately 1 P.M.).  Members will not be admitted on these days until the pool staff has finished setting up the pool and the life­guards are back on duty.

 

PARKING AND RECREATION AREAS

1.      As a courtesy to other community residents, members and guests who drive to the pool are requested to park in the clubhouse lot, not along New Mark Esplanade or Tegner Way.

2.      The speed limit in the parking area is 10 MILES PER HOUR.

3.      Use of the Clubhouse service road and parking area is prohibited except with permission.

4.      Bicycles should be left at the bicycle rack and not on the sidewalk.

5.      The cost of any property damage shall be charged to the member responsible or, if a guest is responsible, shall be charged to the sponsoring member.

6.      No pets shall be permitted in the pool area, Clubhouse, basketball court or tennis courts.

 
HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT

1.      All bathers must take a SOAP SHOWER at the bathhouse before entering the pool or after using suntan lotion.

2.      Street shoes are not permitted on the concrete deck adjacent to the main pool.

3.      NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PERMITTED ON THE POOL DECK. (Maryland State Law)

4.      FOOD IS NOT PERMITTED ON THE POOL DECK. FOOD IS ONLY ALLOWED IN THE ENCLOSED AREA WHERE THE TABLES AND CHAIRS ARE LOCATED.

5.      The chewing of gum is not permitted in the pool area.

6.      Smoking is not permitted in the CLUBHOUSE, POOL OR ON THE POOL DECK.

7.      Admission will be refused to anyone wearing bandages, or with skin abrasions or lesions, colds, coughs--extremely inflamed eyes, open sores, infections, excessive sunburn, nasal or ear discharge.

8.      Spitting, spouting of water, blowing of noses, etc., are strictly pro­hibited in the pools.

 9.      Anyone not toilet trained (incontinent) who wishes to enter any pool must wear a clean diaper covered by separate rubber/vinyl pants, all of which must fit snugly around the legs and waist. If the diaper becomes soiled, this person must leave the pool immediately, and may not return until he/she has taken or been given a soap shower and has been recovered by a new diaper with clean rubber/vinyl pants.

Diapers marketed as “Swim Diapers” must also be covered by separate rubber/vinyl pants, all of which must fit snugly around the legs and waist.

 10.  Diapers should only be changed on the changing tables located in the MENS and WOMENS restrooms.

11.  All trash must be deposited in the receptacles provided. Please use the RECYCLE bins.

12.  Lap lanes are intended for fitness swimming. Please be courteous and respect the right of lap swimmers. NO HANGING ON THE LAP LANES.

  SAFETY

1.      Everyone using the pool and other areas of the facility should do so with the utmost care and caution to avoid accident and injury, not only to themselves, but also to others.

2.      All persons must stay clear of ladders except when entering or leaving the pool.

3.      Persons unable to demonstrate to the lifeguards their ability to swim will not be permitted in the deep water.

4.      When weather conditions dictate that the pool area should be closed in the interest of safety, the pool manager shall have the authority to effect the closing.

5.      The pool will be cleared of all people in the event of an emergency.

6.      No running, pushing, wrestling, or undue disturbances are permitted in or near the pool.

7.      No glass containers, including baby bottles, are allowed in the pool area.

8.      Ball playing on the deck or against the Clubhouse wall is not allowed.  Ball playing in the water is permitted, subject to crowd size, with the guard's approval.

 DIVING

1.      The diving board may be closed when the pool is crowded in order that the membership and their guests may utilize the full area of the pool for swimming.

2.      Do not dive until the previous diver has cleared the area below the board.

3.      Dive in a forward direction only, and immediately swim to the exit from the diving area.

4.      FRONT AND BACK FLIPS ARE NOT ALLOWED!      

5.      No horseplay is permitted on the diving board at anytime.

6.      Only one person may be on the diving board at anytime.

7.      Excessive bouncing on the board is not permitted.

8      Diving off the side of the pool is permitted in the deep end only.

 
SAFETY FOR CHILDREN

1.      All children under 8 years of age must be accompanied in the pool by an adult or a responsible person 14 years or older.

2.      Children between 8 and 13 (i.e., their 8th birthday has passed but they have not reached their 14th birthday) may come swimming alone provided:

3.      They have passed the basic swimming test each year, and

4.      They have written permission on file with the gate attendants from their parents or guardian stating that they may come alone.  If these conditions are not met, children between 8 and 13 must be accompanied by an adult member.

 

5.      The basic swimming test shall consist of:

 
·    Swimming 1/2 length of the pool with confidence.

·         Floating for a one minute period.

·         The swimmer shall then be required to finish swimming the length of the pool with confidence.

·         Judgment as to the successful completion of the test shall be at the discretion of the pool manager.

6.      Only children under 8 years of age may use the wading pool.  Parents or a responsible person 14 years of age or older must supervise their children in the wading pool.  Parents MUST BE INSIDE the wading pool enclosure.

7.      The use of any flotation devices, including water wings, in the main pool is prohibited without approval by the staff.

8.      The manager or lifeguards may direct a rest period if fatigue or chill is observed.  In order to prevent excessive fatigue and chilling, children under 16 years of age are required to leave the pool, upon signal of the lifeguards, for a 15-minute period each hour. Even if a child has been in the pool for only 5 minutes, this rest break must be observed.

 GENERAL

1.      The Association will not be responsible for loss or recovery of contact lenses worn in the swimming pool.

2.      The pool manager, or assistant manager in his absence, shall have final and conclusive authority to enforce all matters relating to the operation of the pool and he may eject any persons failing to observe the estab­lished rules or otherwise conducting themselves improperly.

3.      Head phones must be used when listening to personal music players and portable radios. Cell phones should not be used in the intercom mode. Cell phones are not permitted in the bathroom and shower areas of the clubhouse.

4.     Admission will be refused to any members who are not current in their dues.
