                      ROCKNET MEETING MINUTES

                         February 13, 2003

The meeting was held in the City Manager's Conference room at City Hall.
The meeting convened at 7:45 pm.

Present were: Jim Beller, Mike Cannon, Betsy Robbins, Stan Klein,
Roald Schrack, and Bob Ekman.

1) The minutes of the meeting of January 9, 2003 were accepted.

2) Betsy reported that the city website had 2257 visits/ day in January.
Rocknet had 381 visits/day. The newly activated streaming of channel 11
seems to be working OK. There have been a few unexplained halts in the
streaming. The present 1 MHZ bandwidth will support 10 highband (DSL)
viewers and about 50 lowband (Dial-Up) viewers.

The summer camp guide is up and attracts a great public interest. The
Nature Center page has been expanded and the Climbing Gym logo has been
redesigned. The city Graphical Information System is being prepared for a
limited use on the city website.

3) Mike Cannon reported on improvements being planned for the Citizen
Service Request web page that will make automatic assignments of problems
to appropriate city staff and then permit a follow up of actions taken.

4) Bob Ekman reported on the implementation of the new server. The new
server unique address is rocknet01.rocknet. org and the old server is
rocknet02.rocknet.org. www.rocknet.org points to the old server at this
time.

The new server normally requires a secured FTP for the web administrators.
A list of present administrator accounts was distributed. Inactive accounts
were dropped, active accounts will be transferred to the new server but new
passwords must be assigned.

There was an extended discussion on the Lyris listserve software and the
various possible modes of action. It was decided that some groups may need
to have two listserves.

5) Mike Cannon discussed the need for technical assistance at the polling
places in the coming fall election. The election judges will be using new
electronic voting equipment for the first time. Rocknet members said they
would help.

6) The question of the length of renewal of the domain name was discussed.
It was decided to renew for 3 years.

The meeting adjourned at 9:40 pm

Respectfully submitted,
