COUNCILWOMAN ANNE ROBBINS ANNOUNCES FOR RE-ELECTION

Incumbent Rockville City Council member, Anne Robbins, today officially announced that she will be a candidate for re-election to the Council in the November 4 City elections. Robbins, who is currently serving her second term on the Council, will be running as an independent candidate with a pledge to "continue being accessible to all of our residents and to work hard to preserve Rockville´s hometown identity." In announcing her intention to seek a third term on the City Council, Robbins, a 34-year resident of Rockville, issued the following statement:

"As residents of Rockville we know that we are in a very special community; a City that is a great place to live, work and raise a family. We truly are a City of neighborhoods that, blended together, give Rockville its unique character and a real sense of community. But we also know that the quality of life we want to enjoy is being seriously threatened by over development, and its related traffic congestion. As Council members, we need to take actions, and make descisions that preserve and enhance the safety, well being and quality of life of our residents. As an independent voice on the Council I will continue to work diligently to ´keep Rockville, Rockville.´ And, I will work to ensure that the decisions made at city hall represent the best interests of our citizens. I look forward to the Fall campaign and sharing my views throughout all of Rockville´s neighborhoods. I am particularly pleased to have Andrea Bernardo, an attorney and civic activist, from the Fallsmead area serving as my campaign manager, and Shelly Hardwick, a citizen activist from the west end, as my campaign chair."

In setting her priorities for a third Council term, Robbins listed the following:

Anne Robbins has been actively involved in Rockville´s community life during the 28 years that she and her family have lived in the Rockshire neighborhood of Rockville. Her husband, Dave, works for the U.S. Public Health Service and is a former three term Rockville City Council member. Their two children, Sean and Brennan, attended public schools in Rockville and live in the area. Anne holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration and teaches part time in Montgomery County. She currently serves on the Human Development Policy Committee of the National League of Cities.
